Jan De Nul Employees donate blood in group
Jan De Nul Company with a Heart
Friday 30 September, no less than 140 Jan De Nul NV employees in Aalst donated blood to the Red Cross. Thus Jan De Nul repeats the joint blood donation action of July 2015 and renews its 'Company with a heart!' certificate.
At last year’s blood donation campaign, Director Dirk De Nul already announced he did not consider it a one-time initiative: “We want to convince our employees to donate blood on a regular basis. A company campaign like this is a good place to start for people who have never donated before.”
This blood donation campaign fits right in the Missing Type campaign, launched mid-August by the Belgian Red Cross, calling on over 150 organisations and companies to collect missing blood types by means of collective actions.
Yet Jan De Nul gives the campaign a twist of its own. Julie De Nul, daughter of Jan Pieter De Nul, explains: “Last summer, Jan De Nul Group rolled out its internal safety awareness programme Imagine-Think-Act towards all its colleagues worldwide. We immediately felt a link with the Red Cross Missing Type campaign and accepted the challenge to sensitise at least 100 colleagues into donating blood.”
Because Imagine-Think-Act, or ITA for short, is about much more than just safety. By anticipating the possibilities and risks inherently linked to our operations, we learn to control them more efficiently. This is part of the DNA of every JDN employee.
“ITA is about the drive to change the company culture, it’s a way of working that can save lives. Donating blood can save a life as well,” is the abstract of the link between both campaigns by Julie De Nul.
