We strongly reduce our emissions

Under the name 'Code Zero', we stimulate everyone's awareness

We translate our full-fledged energy management into concrete initiatives. The CO2 performance ladder confirms our approach: we have been awarded the fifth, i.e. highest achievable level.

Our ecological footprint

Jan De Nul Group emitted 769,816 tonnes of CO2e direct scope 1 emissions and 5,942 tonnes of CO2e indirect scope 2 emissions in 2020.

  • Ecological site office

    Ecological site office

Our state-of-the-art, energy-efficient construction site shed consumes about 80 percent less energy than your average site office. Extra insulation (on roof, walls and floor), triple glass windows and door pumps keep the cold out and the heat in. Solar panels on the roof provide energy, a heat pump ensures heating and cooling. In the offices, you won’t find conventional lamps but modern, energy-efficient LED lighting.

  • Fully renewable biofuel

    Fully renewable biofuel

We fill up certain vessels with fully renewable biofuel: a high-grade fuel originating from certified and sustainable waste flows. As such, these vessels not only emit less CO2 but also a lot less particulate matter into the air.

  • Electrification of vehicle fleet

    Electrification of vehicle fleet

We are committed to reduce the CO2 emission of our vehicles. For this, we are looking into the most eco-friendly and efficient drive types, with the main focus on hybrid electric vehicles. With this, we hope that – between 2020 and 2025 – our company will achieve the objectives of the European automotive sector and reduce the emission of our entire vehicle fleet to an average of 95 grams of CO2 per kilometre.

  • Alternative commuting

    Alternative commuting

We want to limit the consumption of fossil fuels to a minimum by promoting sustainable mobility by bike, bus, train, tram or carpooling. We encourage employees to reduce their own footprint as much as possible, among others with a comprehensive bicycle leasing programme.
