Diogo Cao wins Safety@Sea award after crew rescues Singaporean man at sea

This year at the MPA International Safety@Sea Awards, organised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), a record number of 15 winners were announced. Every year, MPA grants the awards to recognise the outstanding efforts of organisations and individuals who have contributed towards ensuring safer seas.

On December 1, MPA presented awards across four categories. Jan De Nul (S) Pte Ltd is one of the winners in the category Outstanding Contribution to Search and Rescue Efforts in 2019, after our vessel Diogo Cao rescued the Singaporean John Low who had been floating in the South China Sea for four days after his boat capsized in a storm.

MPA announced the winners at the International Safety@Sea Webinar Series. This year’s two-day event is an annual platform organised by MPA for members of the international maritime community and practitioners to provide updates on issues pertaining to safety at sea, actively share best practices and experiences on maritime safety, as well as discuss issues of concern and offer problem-solving ideas.
