Visit Symphony: completely booked
On Sunday 17 March, we will participate in Flanders Technology & Innovation. The goal? To introduce you to Jan De Nul's innovative world and to let you discover in real life how we help construct the energy transition.
Symphony is one of the most recent vessels in our fleet. We acquired it in 2022 with a very specific purpose: to support our cable installation activities.
For years, we have been committed to making renewable and affordable energy possible. We construct offshore wind farms, and install and protect the cables that bring the generated power ashore. To do so, we developed a lot of specialised equipment in-house, such as our trenching vehicle Swordfish.
This vehicle has its home base on Symphony, from where it is launched into the water to bury cables in the seabed. A job that requires a lot of precision and is done entirely from a distance. To do so, Symphony is equipped with the latest technologies. Would you like to discover all these high-tech tools we are using to build the energy transition? Then hop aboard on 17 March in Zeebrugge.
What do you need to know?
Sunday 17 March, port of Zeebrugge
- The visit to the vessel takes between 60 and 90 minutes. Through the registration link, you can select a time slot between 9am and 5pm.
- You can register a maximum of 4 persons.
- The visit is allowed for adults and children from 6 years old. Unfortunately, the vessel is not accessible to wheelchair users and prams.
- To optimise the flow, we ask you to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of your time slot. Your group will leave punctually at the scheduled time. If you are late for your time slot, the group will leave without you. Unfortunately, it is then not possible to board at another time for safety reasons.
- You are not allowed to bring backpacks and handbags on board. Therefore, leave valuables in the car.
- After registering, you will receive a unique QR code per registered person. Save those codes carefully and bring them on the visit day to access the port. This e-mail may end up in your spam, so be sure to check it!
What to expect?
- A guided tour of Symphony. Expect to learn facts about how the vessel works, but also experience for yourself what it is like to live and work on board.
- A look at our in-house developed trencher Swordfish. This machine has its home on the Symphony and is launched from the vessel to bury cables in the seabed. Definitely don't get fooled by its size. The trencher may look small in photographs, but be sure to go and stand next to it yourself on the quay in Zeebrugge. You might be surprised!
- A snack and drink after the visit.
- A unique and insightful experience for young and old alike.
