Manifa Oil Field Causeway and Islands Project
The shallow waters of the Manifa oil field make it impossible to use standard offshore oil drilling rigs. Therefore, Saudi Aramco opted for the construction of 25 oil drilling islands covering the whole Manifa oil field, a total surface area comparable to Manhattan. As the principal contractor, Jan De Nul Group designed and built the Manifa Oil Field Causeway and Islands Project. The field produces approximately 900,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
