D6 XE Bulldozer

A first for Jan De Nul and Caterpillar: first electric drive dozer working in Belgium

Recently, Jan De Nul put into service a new Caterpillar D6 XE dozer on its site in Coo (Belgium). And it’s not just any bulldozer: the D6 XE is a hybrid machine and the first of its kind working on a Belgian construction site. So this Belgian first is for Jan De Nul! By purchasing this hybrid dozer, we are further committed to reducing our emissions.

With its electric drive system, the new D6 XE reaches a higher level of productivity than its predecessors, while achieving lower fuel consumption and is therefore more sustainable. As such, the dozer complies with the strictest and most recent emission standards in Europe, the Stage V standards. Jan De Nul has already ordered a second unit, which will be delivered later this year.

The purchase of these sustainable dozers fits in with Jan De Nul’s climate ambitions and our commitment to reduce our energy consumption and CO2 emissions. From ultra-low emission vessels and the use of biofuel, to energy-efficient site offices with 80% less energy consumption, to the electrification of our car fleet and machinery: we go for the lowest possible ecological footprint! Since 2013, Jan De Nul has also been certified for the CO2 performance ladder, an instrument that allows companies to demonstrate their awareness and reduction of CO2. Thanks to our efforts, we have reached the fifth and highest level.
