Cloverleaf interchange Lummen, Belgium

Jan De Nul Group rearranged the cloverleaf interchange between E313 and E314 at Lummen. At different locations on the motorway, traffic priority rules applied. This unusual situation had become too dangerous (accidents) and economically unviable (traffic queues). Between 2008 and 2012, Jan De Nul Group reorganised the interchange, so that roads now cross safely, with bridges on different levels.

Excavation, asphalting and foundation works were carried out to prepare for the construction of 12 bridges. This project was a tour de force of civil engineering by Jan De Nul Group. This gigantic undertaking included connecting two 6,000-tonne bridges and two 8,000-tonne bridges all over one weekend. This feat was only possible thanks to Jan De Nul Group’s knowledge and its extensive fleet of modern equipment.
