Monaco – Anse du Portier

Anse du Portier, Monaco

This large construction project in Monaco started in 2016 which consisted of the development of a recreational and housing extension of the principality in Monaco. Since the start of the project over 10 construction vessels from Jan De Nul have been mobilised to this project to dredge the polluted and non-polluted soils, to install a huge rock berm and to reclaim the area with sand material.

The foundation of the caisson construction was installed by the ‘Simon Stevin’ which installed a record breaking 1,446,000 tonnes of rock material in one rock berm with an incredible height of more than 30 m. Once the foundation was completed the caissons were installed on top by Bouygues and the ‘Daniel Bernoulli’ which is equipped with a conveyor belt on the aft of the vessel was mobilized to the project. The conveyor belt was used to stabilize the caissons and to install rock material behind the caissons.
